What does Interceptor Spectrum do?

Interceptor Spectrum provides protection against heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis), roundworm (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), whipworm (Trchuris vulpis), hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense) and tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus, Taenia pisiformis and Dipylidium caninum) in dogs. It aids in the control of the adult hookworm, Uncinaria stenocephala.

What are the active ingredients in Interceptor Spectrum and how do they work?

Interceptor Spectrum contains both milbemycin and praziquantel. Both these chemicals act on the worms nervous system and affect the way nerve impulses pass along it. This results in the paralysis of the parasite and ultimately its death.

How quickly does Interceptor Spectrum work?

Interceptor Spectrum starts acting as soon as it is swallowed, absorbed and enters the dog's circulation.

From what age can Interceptor Spectrum be used?

Interceptor Spectrum can be used in puppies from 2 weeks of age.

Does Interceptor Spectrum need to be given with food?

Interceptor Spectrum should be added to a small meal or placed directly into the dog's mouth, similar to that of tablet dosing.

How tasty is Interceptor Spectrum?

Interceptor Spectrum tasty chews are flavoured with real cooked chicken. Chicken meat is cooked, ground and dried before being added to the formulation. Studies have shown that Interceptor Spectrum Tasty Chews are so palatable that 94% of dogs accept them straight from the hand.

Can Interceptor Spectrum be used in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs?

Yes. Interceptor Spectrum is approved for the use in breeding, pregnant and lactating bitches and breeding males. In addition it is also safe to use in collies sensitive to ivermectin.

Can I switch from another heartworm medication to Interceptor Spectrum?

Yes. This is an easy process as you just continue with Interceptor Spectrum on your normal monthly regime.

Precautions

In safety studies conducted with Interceptor Spectrum some mild and transient adverse reactions were observd following dosing. These reactions included redeuced activity, increased salivation, vomiting, ataxia and tremors.

Some mild, transient shock-like reactions have occurred when treating heartworm positive dogs carrying a high number of microfilariae at the time of first treatment with milbemycin oxime. It is there fore recommended to have your dog tested for heartworm prior to starting on Interceptor Spectrum.
