What is Profender?
Profender is indicated for the treatment and control of gastrointestinal worms in cats including roundworm (Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina), hookworm (Ancylostoma tubaeforme), lungworm (Aelurostrongylus abstrusus) and tapeworm (Diplylidium caninum, Taenia spp.)
What are the active ingredients in Profender and how do they work?
Profender contains praziquantel and emodepside. Both ingredients act by disrupting the nervous system of the worms resulting in their paralysis and death.
How often is Profender administered?
Profender is administered topically by applying the content of the pipette to the ski between the shoulder blades. The frequency of admistration is dependent on the age of the kitten and what other parasite prevention products the kitten or cat is receiving. This is due to the fact that many products may already control several of the gastrointestinal worms that cats can be affected by.
As a general rule kittens should be wormed at 6, 8 and 12 weeks of age and then every 3 months.
From what age can Profender be given?
Profender is safe to use in kittens from 8 weeks of age.
Is Profender water fast?
Yes. It should be applied to a completely dry animal and do not bathe for 48 hours after application.
Can I use Profender all year-round?
Profender should be administered all year-round to prevent gastrointestinal worms in cats.
Can Profender be used on pregnant or lactating queens?
Milbemax Cat is safe to use in all cats well as pregnant and lactating queens. Profender should be given to queens prior to mating, to pregnant queens sometime in the last 10 days before queening and then every 3 months.
Can Profender be used with other medications?
